Art critic, journalist, author of essays and monographs, Paolo Levi may boast a sound knowledge of national and international connections between art and finance.
He was a member of the Board of Directors in the Society for Promotion of Belle Arti of Torino in the years 1970/75 as well as of the Chief Council of Galleria Civica for Modern Art of Torino between 1975 and 1980.
From 1969 to 1979 he worked as a responsible for the Books and Catalogues section in the editorial staff of Bolaffi Arte for Giulio Bolaffi publishing house.
From 1969 he has been a consultant for the Catalogue of Modern Art , which is now published by Giorgio Mondadori.
Once editorial director for Mondadori, he is now constantly collaborating with this publisher for publications dedicated to catalogues of contemporary artists as well as for various magazines of the Group (Arte, Bell’Italia). Moreover, he directly took care of the Catalogo Generale Ragionato of the pictorial works of Renato Guttuso , Mario Tozzi, Antonio Bueno and Xavier Bueno.
In 1980 the Piemonte Region appointed him responsible for the preface of the catalogue of the exhibition dedicated to Auguste Rodin.
In 1990 in the Principality of Monaco he co-operated to an art event celebrating Giorgio De Chirico, event which was later held in Tokyo and New York.
He wrote “Le Tavolozze di Narciso - Storie di artisti del nostro tempo” (Narcissus’Palettes - Histories of Artists of Our Times) published by Giorgio Mondadori in 1994.
In 1995 Paolo Levi was involved in an exhibition dedicated to Aligi Sassu which was promoted by the Italian Navy.
He was asked by the Piemonte Region to collaborate to the organization of an art show focused on the Piedmontese painting of the 19th century.
He is currently preparing a volume about history of the great Italian admirals of the years before Unification.
He wrote several articles about art and market for the magazines Capital and Europeo by RCS Rizzoli and for AD. Besides, he created in the 80’s together with Ludovico Besozzi the page “Artescambio” in the Sunday edition of the newspaper Il Sole24Ore.
He presently signs the art page of the daily newspaper La Repubblica.
In December 1998 he finalised an agreement on behalf of Alberto Bolaffi with the Cultural Assessorato of the Piemonte Region for the patronising of the Sala Bolaffi seated in Via Cavour, Torino, a show room for exhibitions dedicated to best artists coming from the Accademia Albertina from the second world war until today.
Paolo Levi was also the promoter of a series of important events related to the 20th century in Europe with the sponsorship of Sda Express Courier.
In addition, he organised an exhibition dedicated to the Dutch and Flemish Masters for the Borgogna Museum of Vercelli.
Currently, he is in charge of the organisation of the exhibition entitled “From Segantini to Balla” for Palazzo Cavour, Torino, patronised by Piemonte Region.
